News
We have been busy preparing and submitting a number of interesting projects for Planning and Listed Building Consent. Awaiting Consent at present are applications for several new houses in the West Lothian and Falkirk areas, alterations to properties in East Lothian and Clackmannan and a Listed Building Consent application for extensive repairs to the stunning Crown of Thorns at St. Michael’s Parish Church, Linlithgow.
Amongst several domestic and conservation projects completed in Summer 2022 we have also been working on an unusual project to design a series of new grilles to offer protection, when needed, to the Pictish carvings in the Wemyss caves in Fife. The grilles incorporate unique designs based on the carvings themselves. The work was commissioned by the Save Wemyss Ancient Caves Society with funding support from HES and FET. Legge Steel, Kirkcaldy were responsible for the manufacture and installation.
Congratulations to our Senior Architectural Technologist, James Grieve, who has been approved as an Energy Design Certifier by the RIAS. This allows us to self-Certify the Energy section of the Building Standards and further improves our ability to design and advise on energy use and efficiency in both new build and conversion projects.
Current Projects
We have been working with builders Hutton and Read on this lovely house near Linlithgow. The old single storey wing has been consolidated and extended up to form a new two storey wing, in keeping with the adjacent farm buildings. New bedrooms, work spaces, living rooms and shower rooms are linked with an oak stair as well as new connections to the old house.
The new house at Corriecrave is now almost complete and work is underway on the external landscape and snagging. We hope to be able to show more complete images soon.
Work began on Linhouse Cottage in Summer 2020. The original house was completely destroyed as a result of a catastrophic fire and the new, much improved property, will be complete in early 2021.
Location
We moved from Grange in August 2022. Our new offices relocated nearby at Herkimer House, Linlithgow Bridge

Among the Consents obtained in 2020 was both Planning and Building Warrant for a new house in Dollar. Work is already underway on the challenging site but the steep slope has enabled us to link a traditional cottage form with a south-facing contemporary living space.
